Tanning At A Salon
The tanning salons serve as a one-stop shop for all your tanning needs. You can opt for a tan only on the hands and face or an overall tan; a light, deep or dark tan as per your choice. Although some people feel that tanning salons are not without their accompanying risks, yet it is absolutely essential to know more about them so that you can take the right decision.
A tanning salon may have tanning beds as well as stand-up tanning booths. The tanning lamps are what actually emit the UV rays and cause tanning. The booths are large enough to fit various body sizes.
All these tanning equipments used in tanning salons have a timing mechanism. This allows the user to adjust the timing according to his needs. Which shade of tan does he want, how long can he tolerate the heat, how sensitive is his skin, and alike. Remember that exposure for more than 15-20 minutes is not recommended.
There are quite a lot of apprehensions regarding tanning in tanning booths. The foremost concern is regarding their safety. Some studies show that it is better than baking yourself directly in the sun. However, other studies show that the UVA rays emitted in a tanning salon are two to three times more powerful than those emitted by the sun.
However popular they might be, but tanning salons are not for everyone. Especially for those who burn easily; the fair-skinned and light-eyed people, and those who have cold sores or are prone to diabetes or lupus. It is absolutely essential that all proper precautions should be taken while using a tanning salon- especially use of good sunglasses.
The safety of these tanning salons has still not been proved beyond doubt, but one thing that is for sure is that there is no such thing as a safe tan. All methods to acquire a tan can prove dangerous, especially if adequate protection is not taken.
